- tripod (must have)
- use low iso and long exposure (makes it easier to catch one)
- use custom timer: 1-2sec pause and series of 10 (or more) shots on one click (makes it easier on finger)
- patience (damn it.)

actually, there were two problems: clouds were very strange, so a lowest iso + 0.5 sec exposure results in a total overexposure, not sure why, but it seems they conducted the light from lightning too well; secondly, it was personal - lightning striking at the time of saving shots to card (i used 10 shot series) and striking at opposite side of sky
